The following steps will guide you through setting up an Internet connection to WRKCS.net and your email account on Windows 2000.
- Creating a Dialer
- Click on the 'Start' button on the taskbar.
- Click on 'Settings'.
- Click on 'Network and Dial-Up Connections'.
- On the 'Network and Dial-Up Connections' window, double click the 'Make New Connection' icon.
- The 'Internet Connection Wizard' will open, click the 'Next' button.
- Select 'Dial-up to the Internet' and click the 'Next' button.
- Select 'I want to connect to the internet manually....' and click the 'Next' button.
- Select 'I connect using a phone line and a modem' and click the 'Next' button.
- Type your local dial-up number into the Telephone number box, un check 'Use area code and dialing rules' and then click the 'Advanced' button.
- In the 'Advanced Connection Properties' click on the 'Addresses' tab, under the 'DNS Server Addresses' select the 'Always use the following' enter enter 63.166.168.21 for the 'Primary DNS server' and 166.102.90.11 for the 'Alternate DNS server', then click the 'OK' button and then the 'Next' button.
- In the 'User name' box, type your WRKCS.net user name (without the @wrkcs.net) and in the 'Password' box, type your password (remember that your username and password are case-sensitive) and then click the 'Next' button.
- In the 'Connection name' box, type "WRKCS.net" (without the quotes) and click the 'Next' button.
- Setting up your email account
- On the 'Set Up Your Internet Mail Account' screen you will be asked 'Do you wish to set up an Internet mail account now?', select 'yes' and click the 'Next' button.
- On the 'Your Name' screen, in the 'Display name' box, type your name as you wish it to appear in the from portion of your email and click the 'Next' button.
- On the 'E-mail Server Names' screen select 'My incoming mail server is a' POP3 server, for the incoming mail server enter mail.wrkcs.net and for the 'Outgoing mail server' enter mail.wrkcs.net as well and then click the 'Next' button.
- On the 'Internet Mail Logon' screen the 'Account name' box should be listed your WRKCS.net user name, if it is not please enter it (again, without the @wrkcs.net).
- Also, on the 'Internet Mail Logon' screen you may enter your password in and select the 'Remember password' box if you don't wish to enter your password every time you retrieve your mail, then click the 'Next' button.
- On the 'Completing the Internet Connection Wizard' screen un check the 'To connect to the Internet immediately...' box and click the 'Finish' button.
- Your Computer is now set up to connect to the Internet! You can now go back to the support menu and get the instructions for your browser and news reader.
